Vista DUI Crash Left Oceanside Resident Fatal on State Route 78 in Vista, CA
Vista, CA (July 3, 2023) – One victim succumbed to their injuries after being involved in a Vista DUI crash on State Route 78 westbound, west of Melrose Drive. According to Patch, the accident occurred around around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday.
A Vista DUI crash left an Oceanside resident fatally injured. Authorities arrested the DUI driver suspected of causing the crash.
A suspected drunk driver has been arrested following a Vista DUI crash that resulted in one fatality.
The California Highway Patrol responded to a collision on State Route 78 westbound, west of Melrose Drive, where a white Toyota Corolla driven by a 22-year-old man with an 18-year-old passenger rear-ended a Kia Spectra.
Both vehicles then struck the right shoulder wall before the Kia Spectra rolled over.
According to the Vista Fire Department and other responding paramedics, the Kia Spectra driver, driven by an Oceanside woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.
They also took the Toyota driver and his passenger to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Meanwhile, authorities arrested 22-year-old Nicholas Gordon from Vista on charges of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
Authorities said the investigation of this Vista DUI crash is ongoing, and anyone with information regarding the incident is requested to call the CHP office in Oceanside at 760-643-3400.
