Oakdale, CA (August 17, 2023) – Two people sustained injuries in an Oakdale multiple crash after two loose horses caused a series of accidents involving four vehicles. According to Modesto Bee, the crash happened around 5:12 a.m. on Thursday.

An Oakdale multiple crash involving two loose horses wandering onto Valley Home Road, located north of Oakdale, led to a series of crashes involving four vehicles, causing significant injuries to two individuals.
Tragically, the horses themselves were fatally injured.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Tom Olsen, the initial collision occurred at 5:12 a.m. in an area north of Lambuth Road when a Ford pickup, traveling southbound and driven by a West Sacramento resident, struck the first horse.
Simultaneously, a Honda van traveling northbound and driven by an Oakdale resident collided with the second horse. Both horses sustained fatal injuries due to the impact of the crashes.
Right after, a Toyota pickup and a Chevrolet sedan moving southbound struck the lifeless horse bodies. Both drivers were Stockton residents.
Moreover, while the occupants of the first three vehicles remained unharmed, the collision caused the Chevrolet to lose control and overturn, eventually landing on its roof.
The driver of the Chevrolet incurred a laceration to the head, and one of the passengers sustained a severe cut to the left hand. Paramedics then brought both injured individuals to Modesto hospitals for medical attention.
Meanwhile, two other passengers in the Chevrolet remained unharmed.
Officer Olsen revealed that the loose horses had escaped from a nearby property on Valley Home Road. The owner was promptly notified and retrieved the horses’ bodies.
Due to this Oakdale multiple crash, Valley Home Road remained closed near the collision site until 7:30 a.m.
