Modesto, CA (September 18, 2023) – A 48-year-old woman succumbed to fatal injuries after being struck by a 17-year-old driver in a Modesto pedestrian crash. According to The Modesto Bee, the accident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday.

According to Modesto Police Department spokeswoman Sharon Bear, the collision happened around 9:30 p.m. when a Saturn driven by a 17-year-old Modesto driver hit the woman attempting to cross the road.
Unfortunately, the pedestrian, tentatively identified as a 48-year-old woman, succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene.
Meanwhile, the young driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement officers.
As of early Monday afternoon, it had yet to be determined whether the pedestrian was within a crosswalk or had the right of way to cross. There is also no indication that drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
