Douglas McIntire, a 59-year-old Los Banos resident, died at the scene of a Merced County motorcycle crash on Sunday.
According to Deputy Michael Domingue, the accident unfolded at approximately 11:22 p.m. at Highway 152 and Gonzaga Road, prompting a swift response from California Highway Patrol officers stationed in the Los Banos area.
Preliminary findings indicate that a 2022 Honda motorcycle headed westbound on Highway 152 and approached the off-ramp leading to Gonzaga Road, an off-ramp marked as closed with signage and construction cones.
Douglas McIntire then collided with a wooden closure sign, losing control of the vehicle.
Subsequently, he crashed with the rear attenuator of a parked 2013 Freightliner truck.
Moreover, police say the truck was a protective barrier for workers within the roadway.
At this point in the investigation, it remains unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in this Merced County motorcycle crash, resulting in the death of Douglas McIntire.
