According to reports, Baughn was driving his truck north on Highway 101, just north of the Cal Fire Howard Forest Station, when he crossed the southbound lane, brought the car to a stop, and exited his vehicle.
Meanwhile, an oncoming vehicle swerved to avoid a collision with the truck. However, it still struck Baughn.
Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
