South LA Car Crashes Due to Drunk and Speed Driving Left Three People Fatal On Thanksgiving
Los Angeles, CA (November 25, 2023) – Several South LA car crashes due to drunk and speed driving caused fatal injuries to three people on Thanksgiving. According to NBC, the first accident occurred around 5:30 a.m., followed by another just after 1:00 p.m., and one more after 11:00 p.m.

Several South LA car crashes left three people dead on Thanksgiving Day, marking the ninth fatal accident in the LAPD South Traffic Division in the last week and a half alone.
Reportedly, either intoxicated or speeding drivers caused the deaths.
Moreover, Detective Ryan Moreno of LAPD-STD called it “the worst Thanksgiving” he had witnessed in 28 years.
According to the report, the first accident occurred around 5:30 a.m. in Harbor Gateway, where a suspected drunk driver going over 100 mph collided with a car containing three young women. Sadly, a 24-year-old single mother lost her life.
Later, at 1 p.m., another suspected drunk driver left a liquor store on Western Avenue near 83rd Street, hitting a speeding driver.
Consequently, the speeding driver crashed into 26-year-old Alma Letecia Aragon and her 8-year-old daughter, resulting in the mother’s death and the child being critically injured.
After 11 p.m., detectives on Western and 73rd Streets responded to a high-on-marijuana speeding driver who fatally struck an older homeless man.
As a result, Moreno explained that charges for the drivers in these South LA car crashes could range from manslaughter to murder, depending on whether a car was used as a weapon, such as speeding, running red lights, or racing.
Investigations will use surveillance cameras to track prior movements.
Currently, the LAPD is considering using license plate reading cameras to monitor such drivers but urges people to plan, avoid driving under the influence, and slow down this holiday season.
