The incident occurred at approximately 2:42 a.m., south of John Daly Boulevard, as CHP public information officer Mark Andrews stated.
As a result, the 53-year-old driver died at the crash site, while the other passed away from injuries in the hospital.
Meanwhile, the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office has not yet released their identities, pending family notifications.
Currently, the reason for the incorrect driving direction remains unknown, and authorities have yet to confirm any suspicions about drug or alcohol involvement in this Interstate 280 car crash.
