The crash occurred at the intersection of North Sanborn Road and Freedom Parkway, where an Uber driver, Jorge Vasquez Topete, died in the collision. At the same time, a passenger sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Natividad Medical Center.
As police arrived at the scene, witnesses mentioned that a person fled the scene.
Salinas Police then identified the suspect as 27-year-old Juan Manuel Gonzalez. However, he was apprehended on Monday morning.
Moreover, he faces charges of vehicular manslaughter and felony hit and run, and the Monterey County Jail set his bail at $57,900.
