Blake E. Broadbent, a 35-year-old Riverside resident, succumbed to fatal injuries after a San Bernardino plane crash on Saturday, as confirmed by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
The fatal crash occurred when a plane departing from Stockton crashed. FlightRadar24 data confirms the flight’s origin from Stockton.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing the plane sputter before witnessing it crash in the north end of San Bernardino around 8:21 p.m. on Saturday.
Although deputies promptly responded to the scene, the mountainous terrain hindered search efforts, and adverse weather conditions prevented assistance from the sheriff’s Aviation Division.
Furthermore, on Sunday, the Aviation Division successfully located a debris field in the mountains north of Devil’s Canyon. Search and Rescue teams, accompanied by an investigator from the coroner’s office, discovered Blake E. Broadbent in the debris field.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) also confirmed that the crash involved a twin-engine Gulfstream AC95 aircraft that was built in 1984 and undergoing registration for transfer to a private residence in Santa Monica.
Meanwhile, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched an independent investigation into this San Bernardino plane crash.
