A San Marcos wrong-way crash caused non-life threatening to significant injuries to multiple people after a wrong-way driver struck a red Honda SUV and a white Toyota head-on, as confirmed by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies swiftly responded to the scene at South Santa Fe Avenue and North Rancho Santa Fe Road around 8 p.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a wrong-way driver in an SUV. The SUV collided head-on with another SUV and a car.
Among those injured were a 24-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman who were occupants of the SUV that was struck. They sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, including broken bones, and were promptly transported to the hospital.
Responders also took an infant in a car seat to Rady Children’s Hospital as a precautionary measure. Fortunately, the driver of the car emerged from the crash unharmed.
Meanwhile, the wrong-way driver, identified only as a 29-year-old male, also sustained significant but non-life-threatening injuries. Paramedics also transported him to the hospital for treatment.
