Brentwood, CA (May 1, 2024) – A Brentwood DUI crash on westbound Balfour Road at McViking Way caused injuries to two individuals. According to NBC Bay Area, the police received calls about the crash at around 9:26 p.m. on Tuesday.

The driver of a Chevrolet Silverado, identified as 26-year-old Zachary Rau from Antioch, was reportedly speeding on westbound Balfour Road when he crashed into a Toyota RAV-4 driven by a 31-year-old Brentwood resident.
Subsequently, the Toyota collided with a Honda HR-V driven by a 37-year-old man from Brentwood.
A passenger in Rau’s vehicle, a 26-year-old Antioch resident, sustained severe injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Although his injuries are severe, he is expected to survive.
Additionally, the Toyota driver was unconscious and unresponsive. Police noted he had sustained significant injuries and had to be extricated from the vehicle before being airlifted to a hospital. As of Wednesday, he remains in unstable condition, undergoing treatment for his injuries.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Honda HR-V escaped the collision without any injuries.
Authorities also arrested Rau and booked him into Martinez Detention Facility on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, causing injury.
