Barry McGrath Died after Getting Involved in a Car Accident in San Francisco
San Francisco, CA (February 1, 2022) – Barry McGrath (38) died in a two-vehicle collision in San Francisco’s Outer Sunset District. The incident happened at around 7:35 pm on Saturday.
According to authorities, McGrath was sitting as an Uber passenger in a Honda SUV. The Honda collided with an Audi SUV, around the corner of 46th Avenue and Lincoln Street. Responders took McGrath to the hospital, but was later pronounced dead.
Barry McGrath was taken to the hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.
The Audi’s driver left the scene before authorities arrived. According to reports, authorities received the report about the stolen Audi on Jan. 12. Police described the Audi’s driver as a 45-year-old male who is bald and over six feet tall.
McGrath was a San Francisco GAA member and native of Claregalway. In fact, he was a treasurer of the GAA group’s board. In a Facebook post, the San Francisco GAA posted that McGrath was a “highly regarded member of the Bay Area Irish community.”
Also, St. Joseph’s Hurling Club in Silicon Valley expressed their grief over losing McGrath. He was a chairperson and player. “Barry was always there for anyone as a friend, always the first person to volunteer to help the club and was heavily involved in the San Francisco GAA community,” The St. Joseph’s club shared on Facebook
