Genesis Guerrero Killed in Fatal Train Accident in Paso Robles
Paso Robles, CA (February 8, 2022) – Genesis Guerrero (13), also known as “Geny” to her loved ones, died after getting hit by an Amtrak train near 3500 Riverside Ave. near the intersection of 36th and Park streets in Paso Robles. The incident happened at around 4:30 pm on Monday.
According to authorities, three other people accompanied Guerrero on the tracks when the incident happened. The train’s conductor tried to alert them but Guerrero didn’t get off the tracks.
The train that hit Guerrero was an Amtrak train headed north to Seattle from Los Angeles. The Amtrak police department and local authorities are working together to investigate this incident.
“The Amtrak Police Department is working with local law enforcement to investigate the incident… All individuals should exercise caution around railroad tracks and crossings” Amtrak Coast Starlight spokesperson Olivia Irvin said in an interview with the Tribune.
Genesis Guerrero was with three other people on the tracks when the accident occurred.
Also, Flamson Middle School Principal Audra Carr said, “At this time, we are sending all of our love and support to Genesis’s family during this terrible loss. We are all devastated by this tragedy and are doing everything we can to show love and support to our Cougar Family, staff and students alike, as well.”
Guerrero’s family expressed their grief. They set up a GoFundMe page stating, “Our daughter lost her life in a tragic accident. We are going to try to raise as much as we can so that we and all the family can give her a beautiful goodbye, the goodbye that she deserves.”
