Patricia Vargas Killed in Collision on Road 27 in Madera
Madera, CA (February 11, 2022) – Patricia Vargas (49) died after getting involved in a deadly two-vehicle crash on Road 27 in Madera. The incident happened at around 6:00 pm on Wednesday.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a Chrysler heading north on Road 37 suddenly turned left, westbound on Avenue 17. The driver, Miguel Hernandez (33), drove into the path of a Nissan Rogue, which was being driven by Vargas.

CHP reports indicate that the Nissan swerved in an attempt to avoid the Chrysler. However, it still hit the Chrysler’s rear and crashed into a truck head-on.
Responders reported that Vargas died at the scene. Two passengers of the Nissan sustained major injuries. One of the two passengers was an 11-year-old girl who was taken to the Valley Children’s Hospital. Unfortunately, she wasn’t wearing a seatbelt during the collision. Also, responders took the other passenger to Community Regional Medical Center.
Meanwhile, authorities arrested Hernandez on suspicion of DUI.
