Pedestrians Alondra Gastelum and Sareyna Bejarano Died After Getting Struck by a Car while crossing the street on Blackstone Street and Martin Luther King Junior Avenue in Tulare, CA
Tulare, CA (March 18, 2022) – Alondra Gastelum (18) and Sareyna Bejarano (17) both died after getting hit by a car while they were walking across Blackstone Street and Martin Luther King Junior Avenue. According to ABC 30, the incident happened on Sunday night (March 13).
According to authorities, Gastelum died from her injuries after the collision. On the other hand, Bejarano sustained severe injuries and fought while confined at Fresno’s Community Regional Medical Center. However, she also succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday night.
Alondra Gastelum and Sareyna Bejarano both died due to their injuries after the collision.
According to reports, 83-year-old Manuel Correia drove the car involved in the accident. Tulare Police Department’s Sgt. Ed Hinojosa has shared that he cooperated with the investigation. He also said, “the toxicology report shows that he was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.” Authorities are still investigating this case.
Family and friends of the girls mourned over the loss. They placed pictures, flowers, and candles at the intersection where the incident happened. Also, they set up GoFundMe and Facebook pages to help raise money for funeral costs.
