Carlton Keegan Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash on Granite Creek Road in Scotts Valley
Scotts Valley, CA (April 7, 2022) – Carlton Keegan (18) died after getting into a car crash on Granite Creek Road. According to KRON 4, the incident happened at around 3:30 pm on Wednesday (March 30).
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Keegan rode as a passenger in a Subaru going down Granite Creek Road near Branciforte Drive. Then, the Subaru went off the road and into an embankment. Afterwards, the vehicle stopped after it hit a tree. The driver of the Subaru was Owen Zeip (18).

After the incident, Keegan was transported in an ambulance. However, he later succumbed to his injuries before they could reach Dominican Hospital. Meanwhile, Zeip sustained minor injuries.
At the moment, the CHP is investigating the accident. Authorities are looking into factors which might have contributed to the accident.
Keegan attended Scotts Valley High School and its community expressed grief over the teenager’s untimely death. They stated in a social media post, “Our hearts are broken for the Keegan Family. Carlton’s joy, kindness and encouraging spirit will never be forgotten.”
Scotts Valley High School’s athletic director Louie Walters also shared with Press Banner, “The kids are broken right now.” He continued, “he was the guy that I could go to and say, ‘I need you to motivate the fellas today.’”
Keegan’s family set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for funeral costs.
