Ismael Fuentes After Pedestrian Crash in Indio of Riverside County
Indio, CA (May 23, 2022) – Ismael Fuentes (13) of Indio was identified as the pedestrian who got killed after getting hit by a pickup truck on the Avenue 48 and Oasis Street intersection in Indio. According to Yahoo News, the incident happened at around 8:22 pm on Sunday.

According to authorities, they received a report of a fatal collision involving a teenage pedestrian. They later identified him as Fuentes. According to responders, he died at the scene.
They then closed part of Avenue 48 for around six hours after the accident. The road closure included the portion between Monroe and Jackson Street.
Indio Police spokesperson Ben Guitron that they are currently investigating the accident. Also, the pickup truck’s driver cooperated with their investigation. Right now, they don’t believe that intoxication played a role in this crash.
Desert Sands Unified School District spokesperson Mary Perry shared in an article on Yahoo News that Fuentes attended Colonel Mitchell Paige Middle School. She said, “the entire Desert Sands Unified School District Community is saddened by the loss of one of our own.”
She continued, “we send our deepest sympathy to the family. He and his siblings and parents are an integral part of the DSUSD family. Our counselors spent the day with students and staff as we grieve over this loss.”
