California Highway Patrol Officer Hospitalized After a 22 Freeway Rear-End Crash in Garden Grove
Garden Grove, CA (December 4, 2022) – A California Highway Patrol officer was hospitalized after sustaining injuries in a 22 Freeway rear-end crash in Garden Grove. According to KTLA, the crash occurred around 8:45 pm on Sunday.
A California Highway Patrol officer had to be extricated and hospitalized after a vehicle rear-ended his patrol car on the 22 Freeway in Garden Grove.
The Orange County Fire Authority responded to calls regarding a rear-end crash involving two vehicles and a California Highway Patrol officer on the westbound 22 Freeway in Garden Grove.
Responding firefighters had to extricate a trapped California Highway Patrol officer after his patrol car was rear-ended in a traffic crash. They then took the officer to the University of California, Irvine Medical Center, with unknown injuries.
Captain Jose Perez of Orange County Fire Authority also said that there were two other victims in the crash. It is not yet known if they were also transported to a hospital.
According to authorities, the California Highway Patrol officer pulled over the freeway to assist a driver struggling with a mechanical problem on their vehicle.
A Chevrolet Tahoe then rear-ended the officer’s patrol car and struck the other vehicle.
Right now, further information regarding the Tahoe driver is not immediately available.
It is also not yet determined whether drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash.
