Los Angeles, CA (March 24, 2022) – Sera Aintablian (20) died in a tragic car crash on the 101 Freeway near the Tujunga Boulevard off-ramp in North Hollywood, Los Angeles. According to CBS News, the incident happened at around 2:00 am on Thursday.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), UCLA student Aintablian drove eastbound on the 101 Freeway. Then, she lost control of the car and swerved into a guard rail, splitting the car in two. Reports mentioned that there was also another vehicle that hit Aintablian’s car as it drove by.
Sera Aintablian died after her car crashed into a guard rail and split in half.
Aintablian was ejected from the wreck due to the impact of the collision. Responders pronounced the UCLA student dead at the scene. Meanwhile, responders rushed the two occupants of the other vehicle for moderate injuries.
Photojournalist Howard Raishbrook shared with CBS News, “I’ve been looking at crashes for 20 years, and we’ve seen some horrific instances, but half the car on the freeway, half the car off the freeway, it was devastating.”
Raishbrook went to Aintablian’s aid and performed CPR. “I had to try something, I mean I know it’s a dangerous situation, cars still flying past, I could smell gasoline, car’s in half, it was kind of on a dark corner,” he said.
Aintablian’s boyfriend arrived at the scene. He was on the phone with Aintablian shortly before the crash. After the accident, authorities closed southbound lanes of the 101 Freeway as well as the Tujunga Boulevard offramp.
Aintablian was a UCLA student who had graduated from the AGBU Vatche and Tamar Manoukian High School in Pasadena. According to KCBS-TV, The 20-year old only child was truly gifted and received many accolades during her schooling.
According to Pasadena Now, the wonderful young lady, who had her eyes set on medical school aimed to inspire Armenian-American students to pursue their dreams.
Aintablian chose to study Microbiology in UCLA for college after being accepted by UCI, UCSB, UC Davis and being waitlisted at UC Berkeley.
