Long Beach, CA (August 28, 2023) – One man died at the scene of a 405 Freeway crash after he got out of his vehicle involved in a collision and was struck by multiple cars. According to KTLA, the collision happened around 12:05 a.m. on Monday.

A tragic 405 Freeway crash occurred early Monday morning on the 405 Freeway in Long Beach, as a driver lost their life after being involved in a collision with multiple vehicles.
The identity of the driver remains unknown at this time.
The California Highway Patrol received initial reports of the crash occurring on the southbound section of the 405, near Pacific Avenue, shortly after midnight on Monday.
According to CHP, the driver lost control of his vehicle, resulting in a crash before they fled the scene.
The driver leaped over the center divider to escape, encountering collisions with several other vehicles.
Authorities discovered his lifeless body in the northbound lanes of the freeway.
Moreover, none of the other drivers involved in the collisions sustained injuries.
CHP first closed off the southbound HOV lane and lanes 1, 2, and 3.
By 1:04 a.m. A SigAlert issued the closing of all northbound lanes and rerouting traffic to the 710 Freeway. Police also temporarily closed 405 via the Pacific Avenue on-ramp due to this 405 Freeway crash.
