Richmond, CA (June 20, 2023) – A truck driver sustained major injuries after being struck in a Interstate 80 truck crash. According to NBC Bay Area, the crash occurred around around 1:45 a.m. on Tuesday.

The California Highway Patrol responded to a truck crash involving two big rigs on westbound Interstate 80 in Richmond.
Authorities said one truck driver sustained significant injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
According to the police, a large sugar truck rear-ended the carnival-carrying truck, causing sticky traffic for drivers from Richmond to El Cerrito.
Due to the impact of the collision, the carnival truck driver incurred significant injuries. Responders then flew the victim to the hospital.
On the other hand, the sugar truck driver did not sustain any injuries from the crash.
The Alameda County Fair continues through July 9, but the CHP has not determined if the trucks were related to the event.
Furthermore, two big wreckers were dispatched to break the trapped trucks apart. Sugar heaps also blanketed the highway sections, making the accident more complicated to sort.
Additionally, authorities sought the help of Richmond and Contra Costa County fire crews to assist in this Interstate 80 truck crash.
