Pacific Beach, CA (January 1, 2024) – Abraham Jose Mungaray (33) of Chula Vista succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene of a Pacific Beach solo crash after going off the freeway. According to The San Diego Union-Tribune, the crash happened around 10:40 p.m. on Saturday.

Abraham Jose Mungaray, a 33-year-old resident of Chula Vista, died after a Pacific Beach solo crash on Interstate 5 near the Grand and Garnet Avenues off-ramp, as confirmed by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Abraham Jose Mungaray was traveling north on the freeway in a Honda CRV when it is uncertain whether he crashed on the exit ramp, which briefly parallels the freeway before curving beneath it, or if the vehicle went off the freeway overpass above.
Witnesses, however, informed dispatchers that the vehicle crashed through a guardrail and collided with a cement support pillar for the freeway bridge.
The result of the crash left the SUV overturned on its roof, facing the opposite direcgoogtion and partially leaning against the support column.
Unfortunately, Mungaray, who was not wearing a seatbelt, succumbed to “obvious traumatic injuries” and died at the scene without medical assistance.
