Santa Cruz, CA (September 7, 2022) – An alleged DUI accident on the San Lorenzo River Railroad Bridge left a woman in serious condition in Santa Cruz. According to the East Bay Times, the crash happened at around 5:19 am on Sunday.

According to authorities, a man drove his red Toyota Prius off the railroad near the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk while allegedly drunk. The severely injured woman was a passenger in the car.
Responders then arrived on the San Lorenzo River Railroad Bridge and found the Toyota on its roof under the bridge. They then flew the woman out to a trauma center outside the county. They then took her to a hospital with severe injuries.
Authorities arrested the driver for allegedly driving under the influence, causing bodily injury. As of Tuesday, the driver stayed at the Santa Cruz County Jail.
