Sutter County, CA (June 10, 2023) – Allyson Nohelia Navarro-Salazar (21) and her one-year-old child succumbed to fatal injuries sustained in the Live Oak DUI crash in Sutter County. According to CBS News, the accident occurred after 6:30 pm on Friday.
Allyson Nohelia Navarro-Salazar and her child were fatally struck in a DUI crash in Live Oak.
The Sutter County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the two fatalities in a DUI crash on Highway 99 and Paseo Road, just south of Live Oak.
They identified the fatalities as 21-year-old Allyson Nohelia Navarro-Salazar and her one-year-old female child, Laylanie of Gridley.
The California Highway Patrol believed the DUI driver was traveling southbound on SR-99, north of Paseo Road when he traversed outside a double yellow line and sideswiped a northbound vehicle. The driver then lost control of their vehicle and struck Navaro-Salazar’s car head-on.
Additionally, authorities suspected that the DUI driver was involved in a separate crash in Live Oak, resulting in property damage before the collision.
The CHP Yuba-Sutter division mentioned that the DUI driver left the accident scene and traveled southbound on Highway 99 before the responders arrived.
The two fatal victims died at the accident scene. While a 23-year-old passenger, who was Navarro-Salazar’s boyfriend, incurred significant injuries. Other victims of the fourth vehicle also sustained minor injuries.
Authorities indicated that drugs and alcohol seem to have played a role in the collision. The driver has not been identified as of Saturday.
William Navarro, Navarro-Salazar’s father, remembered his daughter as his baby, honest, as “the most lovely girl that could be in the world.”
The family set up a GoFundMe to help with the mother and child’s funeral expenses.
J&M Tip: Usually, authorities rely on the evidence at the accident scene to determine and locate the at-fault driver. An accident attorney can help collect evidence and work with investigators to identify hit-and-run drivers.
