Andrew Jelmert Died After Hit-and-Run Crash During an AIDS Ride in Griffith Park, Los Angeles
Los Angeles, CA (April 17, 2022) – Andrew Jelmert (77) died after he got involved in a hit-and-run accident while cycling during an event, “AIDS/LifeCycle’s SoCal Day on the Ride.” According to FOX 11, the incident happened at around 3:49 pm on Saturday (April 16).
According to authorities, they’ve arrested the alleged driver involved in the hit-and-run crash. However, identification is unavailable.
Andrew Jelmert died in Griffith Park after getting in a hit-and-run.
AIDS/LifeCycle shared a statement on the Facebook page, “we are heartbroken to share the news that a cyclist participating in AIDS/LifeCycle’s SoCal Day on the Ride lost their life after being struck by a vehicle yesterday, on April 16.”
Incoming CEO of the Los Angeles LGBT Center Joe Hollendoner also stated, “we revere each and every participant on AIDS/LifeCycle, who dedicate their time, energy, passion, and power to lift up a cause close to their hearts. We mourn with our community.”
According to the post, Jelmert was a five-time participant of the AIDS/LifeCycle’s cycling event. He was also a Different Spokes member.
