Bakersfield, CA (January 3, 2024) – A Bakersfield Highway truck crash killed a 43-year-old man from Atascadero after a semi-truck rear-ended his car. According to KSBY, the crash happened just before 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

A Bakersfield Highway truck crash on northbound Highway 99, just south of Highway 119, resulted in the death of a 43-year-old man from Atascadero.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a semi-truck hit the man’s Prius from behind. As a result, both vehicles ended up on the highway’s right shoulder.
Tragically, the officials pronounced the Atascadero man dead at the scene.
At the incident, authorities reported that the semi-truck traveled approximately 55 mph along the slow lane.
However, it remains unclear whether the Prius was stationary on the right shoulder or in the slow lane when the collision happened.
Notably, the officials reported dark and rainy conditions during the incident.
