Caruthers Crash Caused Fatal Injuries to Mark Bruce, Blanca Villegas and Dezirae Perez
Fresno County, CA (April 22, 2024) – A Caruthers crash on Nebraska Avenue killed three people, identified as: Mark Bruce (57) of Fresno, Blanca Villegas (18) of Selma and Dezirae Perez (17) of Fresno. According to ABC30, the crash happened around 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
A Caruthers crash at the intersection of 41 Southbound and East Nebraska Avenue caused fatal injuries to three people.
A Caruthers crash caused three individuals to lose their lives on Friday. The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office identified them as:
- 57-year-old Mark Bruce of Fresno,
- 18-year-old Blanca Villegas of Selma and
- 17-year-old Dezirae Perez of Fresno.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Silverado pickup truck was going at the intersection with the highway without stopping. Subsequently, it collided with a Dodge pickup truck towing a fifth-wheel travel trailer.
As a result, the driver of the Silverado, Mark Bruce, succumbed to fatal injuries in the collision.
Additionally, two female passengers in Bruce’s truck, Blanca Villegas and Dezirae Perez, lost their lives in this Caruthers crash.
CHP also noted that none were wearing seatbelts, leading to all three being ejected from the vehicle.
Meanwhile, the fourth occupant of the Silverado sustained significant injuries. Responders airlifted the victim to the Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.
On the other hand, the Dodge truck hauling the camper had three occupants at the time of the accident: two adult males, one in their 30s and the other in their 40s, and a 4-year-old child secured in a car seat.
Fortunately, all three survived the initial collision and were transported to local hospitals for medical attention.
Moreover, CHP investigators are actively determining whether drugs or alcohol contributed to this Caruthers crash.
