Ceres, CA (December 13, 2023) – A Ceres car crash killed Leroy Don Smith (89) of Castro Valley and Youkhana Atrmiz (36) of Ceres. A 64-year-old Castro Valley woman also sustained injuries from the crash. According to The Modesto Bee, police responded to the crash at around 8:20 p.m. on Tuesday.

A Ceres car crash involving a Chrysler 300 and a Toyota Prius that collided head-on resulted in the deaths of two vehicle occupants on Tuesday.
The authorities identified the fatalities as 89-year-old Leroy Don Smith of Castro Valley and 36-year-old Youkhana Atrmiz of Ceres.
Around 8:20 p.m., officers from the Ceres Police Department and the Modesto Fire Department discovered three individuals trapped inside vehicles at the intersection of Hatch Road and Booth Road, all unresponsive.
While paramedics performed life-saving measures on the passenger of the Toyota, Leroy Don Smith, he succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene.
Additionally, the driver of the Chrysler without a seatbelt on, Youkhana Atrmiz, was also extricated from the vehicle and transferred to a local hospital.
Unfortunately, Atrmiz died at the medical facility.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Toyota, a 64-year-old woman from Castro Valley, sustained significant injuries. She is now in stable condition.
Moreover, the Ceres Police Traffic Unit Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) took charge of the investigation.
As of Wednesday afternoon, it remains uncertain whether drugs, alcohol, or excessive speed played a role in this Ceres car crash.
