Construction Worker and Family Man, Javier Calderon, Fatal in Pacoima Wall Collapse
Los Angeles, CA (June 8, 2023) – Javier Calderon (49) was identified as the fatality in a tragic concrete wall collapse in Pacoima. According to KTLA5, the collapse was reported around 8:45 am on Wednesday.
Javier Calderon, a construction worker and a family man, was fatally injured after a concrete wall collapsed in Pacoima.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the 10500 block of Glenoaks Boulevard for reports of trapped construction workers after a concrete wall collapsed in Pacoima.
When firefighters arrived, one of the two workers managed to get out, but the other remained trapped under cinder blocks.
Unfortunately, the trapped construction worker did not make it and was later pronounced dead around 10:30 am.
He was identified as Javier Calderon. He is survived by his wife, five daughters, and three grandchildren.
Loved ones described Calderon as “a loving husband, wonderful father, and irreplaceable grandfather.”
His family members have set up a GoFundMe page to seek aid in funeral costs.
Right now, Los Angeles Police Department and workplace safety inspectors are investigating the cause of this wall collapse in Pacoima.
In a video interview from KTLA, residents within the area have expressed their concerns about the wall for several years.
