According to the Corona Fire Department, firefighters swiftly responded to reports of a vegetation fire near Palos Verde Drive and Auburndale Street. They then discovered that a small plane had crashed in the area.
Crews promptly extinguished the fire and, unfortunately, found one person deceased inside the plane. However, the identity of the victim has not yet been released.
The Corona Police Department also responded to the scene to assist firefighters.
Meanwhile, the Federal Aviation Administration provided initial details, stating that only the pilot was on board.
Additionally, a post on the National Transportation Safety Board’s Newsroom X account, formally known as Twitter, disclosed that the aircraft involved was an “experimental homebuilt” plane.
