Daniel Matos Guadarrama died at the scene of a Silverado Trail crash after a vehicle struck him while standing outside his car.
Daniel Matos Guadarrama, 26, of Yountville, died at the scene of a Silverado Trail crash after a vehicle struck him while standing outside his disabled car, as confirmed by the Napa County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident unfolded when the vehicle of Daniel Matos Guadarrama broke down on Silverado Trail, just north of Oak Knoll Avenue.
While Guadarrama was reportedly moving about the roadway for unknown reasons, a woman driving a silver Toyota RAV4 SUV traveling south on Silverado Trail at around 55 mph spotted him suddenly on the east side of the roadway.
Despite her efforts to avoid a collision, she struck Guadarrama, causing him significant injuries.
Fortunately, an off-duty Sonoma County sheriff’s deputy, who had previously seen Guadarrama standing in a different location, returned to the scene and administered medical aid.
However, despite the deputy’s intervention, Guadarrama tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Meanwhile, the impact resulted in significant front-end damage to the woman’s vehicle.
On the other hand, the CHP suggested that Guadarrama’s car’s headlights may have caused a visual impairment for southbound traffic on Silverado Trail, potentially making it challenging for drivers to spot him in the roadway.
Moreover, while the victim’s sobriety remains unknown and is subject to further routine investigation, there were no indications that the woman driving the SUV was impaired.
The CHP Napa Area continues investigating this Silverado trail crash involving Daniel Matos Guadarrama. Police urge anyone with pertinent information to contact them at 707-699-6300.
J&M Tip: In a vehicle accident involving disabled cars, the driver or the pedestrian may be liable for the damages. It is best to contact a car accident lawyer who can assess the details of the crash and determine liability in such instances.
