Daniel Reyes Killed in Car Crash on San Timoteo Canyon Road in Riverside County
Riverside County, CA (May 18, 2022) – Daniel Reyes (47) died after getting involved in a car accident on San Timoteo Canyon Road in Riverside County. According to Patch, the incident happened at around 2:00 pm on Tuesday.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Officer Jason Montez, Reyes drove a 2000 Honda Accord eastbound on San Timoteo Canyon Road. Then, he attempted to pass a 2021 GMC Sierra, which moved slowly in front of him.
Daniel Reyes attempted to pass a pickup in front of him before the accident.
However, as he crossed the double-yellow lines to get ahead of the pickup, a 2022 Toyota Camry approached from the other direction. This caused Reyes to move back into the eastbound lane and crash into the pickup. The collision then pushed the Honda into the Toyota’s path, causing another crash.
Responders from the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department crews arrived, but Reyes was already dead at the scene. Meanwhile, they transported the 50-year-old male driver of the Toyota to Riverside University Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.
The 23-year-old male driver of the pickup sustained no injuries from the accident. The CHP closed both sides of San Timoteo Canyon Road for preliminary investigation. The closure included portions of the road from Live Oak Canyon Road to the north as well as Redlands Boulevard to the south. It lasted until around 4:00 pm.
Right now, investigators don’t believe alcohol and drugs were factors in the crash.

More About Car Accident Liability
Various circumstances of the car accident can pinpoint the liability of damages. In some instances, thorough investigations can reveal careless behavior. This can include the simple act of recklessly turning or cutting in front of another vehicle. In terms of determining who is at fault for an accident, this can be defined by common law. Any Sacramento or Los Angeles car accident lawyer recognizes that fault has four basic levels:
- Negligence
- Recklessness (wanton conduct)
- Intentional misconduct
- Strict liability
However, different state laws can have variations of applicable traffic laws. For example, in some states, multiple drivers can be liable for an accident. This is why thorough investigations are important after a car accident. Having a strong case showing the liability to the at-fault party can help guarantee your compensation. Likewise, a car crash attorney can also help you determine all your options, so you can fully recover from the accident. Learn more about car accident lawyers in California here.
