Del Mar, CA (June 20, 2024) – A Del Mar hit-and-run in the 2000 block of Coast Boulevard killed one passenger. Meanwhile, the driver fled the scene, but was later arrested. According to Fox5 San Diego, the crash occurred before midnight on Tuesday.

Sgt. Jeremy Collis of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department reported in a news release on Wednesday that the collision happened just before midnight in the 2000 block of Coast Boulevard.
Deputies arriving at the scene unfortunately found a 62-year-old man in the passenger seat of a 2019 Maserati Gran Turismo.
The vehicle had crashed into a tree and a parked Dodge Ram. Fortunately, no one was inside the Dodge at the time of the accident.
Moreover, responders took the victim to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
“During the preliminary investigation, deputies learned the Maserati was driving north on Coast Boulevard when it left the road, struck a parked car, and collided with a tree,” Collis stated.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Maserati, identified as 52-year-old Elizabeth Brooks-Fratus, allegedly fled the scene but was later apprehended. Paramedics also took her to a hospital for injuries sustained in this Del Mar hit-and-run.
Furthermore, Brooks-Fratus is set to be booked at the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility on suspicion of felony hit-and-run, vehicular manslaughter, and DUI-related charges.
