Two drivers dead and one toddler seriously injured after being struck in a Dillard Road car crash in Sacramento.
The California Highway Patrol responded to a fatal Dillard Road car crash involving a 2017 Nissan Rogue and a 2016 Nissan Altima on Dillard Road east of SR-99.
The two drivers died at the scene, and a two-year-old toddler sustained significant injuries from the crash.
According to the initial report, the Nissan Rogue, driven by a 27-year-old man from Ukiah, was traveling eastbound and made an unsafe left turn into another lane where the Altima was.
The Altima driver, a 37-year-old woman from Wilton, tried to avoid the collision. However, they still collided head-on.
Unfortunately, both drivers died at the scene, and a two-year-old toddler riding in the Altima incurred significant injuries and was brought to the hospital.
The Altima driver wore a seatbelt at the time of the accident. The toddler was also correctly restrained in a child safety seat.
Meanwhile, the Nissan Rogue driver was not wearing a seatbelt during the collision.
According to Officer Mark Leavitt, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol’s South Sacramento office, the Nissan Rogue driver was driving erratically, and alcohol may have been involved in the accident.
The identities of the drivers are yet to be released.

More About Car Accident Liability
Various circumstances of the car accident can pinpoint the liability of damages. In some instances, thorough investigations can reveal careless behavior. This can include the simple act of recklessly turning or cutting in front of another vehicle. In terms of determining who is at fault for an accident, this can be defined by common law. Any Sacramento or Los Angeles car accident lawyer recognizes that fault has four basic levels:
- Negligence
- Recklessness (wanton conduct)
- Intentional misconduct
- Strict liability
However, different state laws can have variations of applicable traffic laws. For example, in some states, multiple drivers can be liable for an accident. This is why thorough investigations are important after a car accident. Having a strong case showing the liability of the at-fault party can help guarantee your compensation. Likewise, a car crash attorney can also help you determine all your options, so you can fully recover from the accident. Learn more about car accident lawyers in California here.
