Dirk Couvson, a 20-year-old father and caregiver, sustained critical injuries and lost his leg in a Sacramento hit-and-run near Arden Way and Harvard Street.
According to the Sacramento Police Department, a vehicle struck him while he was riding his motorcycle, after which the driver fled the scene before the police could arrive. As of now, the driver remains at large.
Dirk Couvson, identified by his family, is currently in the ICU at the UC Davis Hospital.
Reportedly, his injury was so severe that his foot was amputated on the night of the crash, and he is scheduled to have his leg amputated below the knee soon.
Additionally, he got a broken femur, a fractured wrist, and a brain bruise. However, the family mentioned that it’s too early for doctors to predict how the brain injury might affect him.
