Santa Ysabel, CA (February 22, 2024) – An East County car crash killed an 11-year-old girl and injured four others after a vehicle struck another car at an intersection. According to Fox5 San Diego, the crash occurred around 2:40 p.m. on Saturday.

According to California Highway Patrol Officer Jared Grieshaber, the incident unfolded at the juncture of southbound state Route 79 and eastbound state Route 76, where a 27-year-old woman from Escondido driving a 2020 Honda Accord halted at the intersection of SR-76 and SR-79.
Subsequently, she traversed the intersection and inadvertently crossed paths with an approaching 2022 Ford F-150, resulting in a collision that struck the left side of the Honda.
Unfortunately, the impact of the crash claimed the life of an 11-year-old Honda passenger.
Meanwhile, the 27-year-old driver and her 16-year-old and 34-year-old passengers sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital. The driver of the Ford, a 53-year-old man, also sustained minor injuries and received on-site treatment.
Moreover, authorities have ruled out driving under the influence as a contributing factor in this East County car crash.
