Edna Marquez Galindo, a 32-year-old resident of Fresno, died in a Templeton DUI crash on Sunday, as confirmed by the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities also arrested the driver 37,-year-old Oscar De La Mora Marin of Reedley, suspected of DUI.
The tragic solo-vehicle accident occurred in the southbound lanes of Highway 101, situated south of the Del Rio Road over-crossing between Templeton and Atascadero.
According to the authorities, Oscar De La Mora Marin was operating the vehicle at speeds ranging between 90 to 100 MPH in the area, all while under the influence.
He allowed the vehicle to swerve into the center divider at a certain point. In an attempt to return the car to the roadway, he over-corrected, leading to the vehicle spinning and traversing both southbound lanes.
Subsequently, the vehicle left the freeway, overturned, and ultimately stopped on its left side on Ramona Road.
During the rollover sequence, the passenger, Edna Marquez Galindo, was ejected from the vehicle and sustained significant injuries.
Galindo was swiftly transported to Sierra Vista Medical Center. However, she tragically succumbed to her injuries.
Meanwhile, CHP took De La Mora Marin into custody on felony DUI charges and booked him into the San Luis Obispo County Jail.
