El Cajon, CA (August 18, 2022) – An El Cajon plane accident severely injured a pilot (65) near the Interstate 8 overpass in San Diego County. According to the Los Angeles Times, the crash happened at around 10:35 am on Thursday.
The 65-year-old pilot of the single-engine plane suffered severe injuries in the El Cajon plane crash on Greenfield Drive near the Interstate 8 overpass.
According to authorities, the single-engine plane driven by the 65-year-old pilot crashed near the Interstate 8 overpass on Greenfield Drive.
The plane hit the freeway overpass’ concrete railing as it went down. It also grazed an SUV’s hood going east, leaving moderate damage.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the pilot suffered severe injuries. Responders transported him to the hospital as soon as possible. Meanwhile, no one in the SUV sustained injuries.
California Highway Patrol Officer Travis Garrow shared to the Los Angeles Times that aside from the pilot, no one else got injured in this crash. Authorities then closed both directions of Greenfield Drive to make way for an investigation.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are looking into this case. Right now, further details about the crash are unavailable.
