Elbia Galeana Fatally Injured in Fiery DUI Crash in Fresno
Fresno, CA (December 12, 2022) – Elbia Galeana (28) of Selma was identified as the fatality in a fiery crash involving an alleged drunk driver on Highway 99. According to KMPH, the crash was reported around 11:10 pm on December 3rd.
An alleged drunk driver caused a fiery crash on Highway 99 in Fresno that fatally injured Elbia Galeana.
The California Highway Patrol – Fresno initially received reports of a disabled Mitsubishi Galant blocking the center lane of Highway 99 in Fresno.
Before they arrived at the scene, a Toyota vehicle failed to avoid the Mitsubishi and collided with its rear side. The collision caused both vehicles to be forced off the roadway.
The Mitsubishi vehicle then became engulfed in flames. CHP officers believe that the Mitsubishi was involved in a prior crash which left it disabled on the center lane.
Unfortunately, the driver of the Mitsubishi did not make it out of her vehicle. She later died of her injuries. Authorities recently identified the victim as Elbia Galeana of Selma.
Meanwhile, the other driver, Jose Lopez Gracida, was taken to an area hospital for major injuries. According to officers, he will later be charged with vehicular manslaughter while under the influence of alcohol upon release.
Galeana left behind a 3-year-old son. Her loved ones set up a GoFundMe page to aid with the funeral expenses.
