Motorcyclist Faysal Hekmat Killed in a Traffic Crash near Vandenberg Space Force Base
Santa Barbara County, CA (August 2, 2022) – Faysal Hekmat (33) of Santa Maria was identified as the fatality in a traffic crash on Highway 1 near Vandenberg Space Force Base in Santa Barbara County. According to KSBY, the crash happened around 7:40 am on Thursday.
Faysal Hekmat died at the scene after a head-on collision with a wrong-way SUV on Highway 1 near Vandenberg Space Force Base in Santa Barbara County.
The California Highway Patrol reported a fatal crash involving a motorcyclist and an SUV on Highway 1 near Vandenberg Space Force Base in Santa Barbara County.
The motorcyclist was reportedly ejected from his motorcycle and died at the scene following the crash. He was later identified as Faysal Hekmat of Santa Maria.
According to an initial investigation, an SUV initially headed northbound crossed into the southbound lanes and collided head-on with the motorcyclist. After the collision, the motorcyclist was thrown off into the other southbound lane and then hit by another vehicle.
Two other vehicles were also reportedly damaged after the initial crash. One of the vehicles was hit by debris, and the other vehicle was driven into the center median to avoid the crash.
All drivers remained at the scene.
Meanwhile, the SUV driver was hospitalized due to minor injuries. She was only identified as a 21-year-old woman from Santa Maria.
