Reportedly, the high-speed chase began when the driver failed to stop for a traffic violation.
The chase lasted roughly 20 seconds, reaching speeds over 100 miles per hour. Eventually, the driver lost control and collided with a responding police vehicle.
Police revealed that four people were in the pursued white Nissan Sentra.
According to a Monday press release, 15-year-old Robert Rias, 14-year-old Dominic Adams Jr., and 15-year-old Omar Pitts succumbed to their injuries. Meanwhile, the unidentified fourth occupant of the vehicle is in a critical state.
Following the crash, two FPD officers were hospitalized with severe injuries.
The FPD is cooperating with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Major Traffic Investigation Team on the ongoing investigation of this Fontana pursuit crash.
