Two teens succumbed to fatal injuries and three others were hospitalized after a Fresno County head-on crash on Highway 43, north of Davis Avenue.
The California Highway Patrol responded to a fatal Fresno County head-on crash, leaving two teens fatal and three others injured and hospitalized.
According to officers, an 18-year-old was driving a Toyota Camry, carrying two passengers aged 18 and 15. Additionally, the Camry was heading south on Highway 43 when the incident occurred.
Upon approaching a slower car, the Camry’s driver decided to overtake. In doing so, they crossed a solid yellow line, a clear traffic violation.
As a result, this rash maneuver led to the vehicle colliding head-on with a Range Rover heading north on the same highway.
Unfortunately, the young driver and front passenger of the Camry were pronounced dead at the scene.
Subsequently, emergency medical services transported the remaining Camry passenger, another 18-year-old, to a nearby hospital due to severe injuries.
The Range Rover occupants, both in their 50s, were also rushed to the hospital, considering the severity of their injuries.
The officers indicated possible marijuana use by all occupants of the Camry before the crash. This suspicion, however, will be confirmed pending toxicology results.
Furthermore, the 15-year-old Camry passenger’s failure to use a seatbelt may have gravely exacerbated his injuries in this Fresno County head-on crash.
J&M Tip: It’s advisable to be extra vigilant while driving, particularly in regions where recent collisions have occurred, to minimize the risk of being part of accidents. Additionally, you can alert law enforcement to attend to the crash.

More About Car Accident Liability
Various circumstances of the car accident can pinpoint the liability of damages. In some instances, thorough investigations can reveal careless behavior. This can include the simple act of recklessly turning or cutting in front of another vehicle. In terms of determining who is at fault for an accident, this can be defined by common law. Any Sacramento or Los Angeles car accident lawyer recognizes that fault has four basic levels:
- Negligence
- Recklessness (wanton conduct)
- Intentional misconduct
- Strict liability
However, different state laws can have variations of applicable traffic laws. For example, in some states, multiple drivers can be liable for an accident. This is why thorough investigations are important after a car accident. Having a strong case showing the liability of the at-fault party can help guarantee your compensation. Likewise, a head-on crash attorney can also help you determine all your options, so you can fully recover from the accident. Learn more about car accident lawyers in California here.
