Gerardo Becerra Killed in Crash Between Car and Commercial Trash Truck in San Diego
San Diego, CA (April 26, 2022) – Gerardo Becerra (24) was identified as a fatality in an accident involving a car and commercial trash truck on State Route 163 in San Diego. According to FOX 5, the incident happened at around 6:40 am on Monday.
According to authorities, Becerra rode alone in a Ford Fusion before crashing into a commercial trash truck on State Route 163 near Friars Road. The California Highway Patrol also mentioned that the Fusion went northbound at a high speed. Then, it hit the truck’s rear, which was on the right-hand lane.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office shared that the truck traveled slowly and its hazard lights were on for unknown reasons. Meanwhile, Becerra sustained severe injuries. Authorities later pronounced him dead at the scene. The Ford Fusion crumpled due to the impact.
Investigators are still figuring out the official cause and contributing factors of Becerra’s death. Right now, they haven’t released any further details about this case.
