Desert Hot Springs, CA (July 28, 2023) – Gildardo Gonzalez Luna (49) of Stokesdale, North Carolina, suffered fatal injuries in a Desert Hot Springs car crash. According to NBC Palm Springs, the crash occurred around 2:40 p.m. on June 28.
Gildardo Gonzalez Luna succumbed to fatal injuries in a car crash in Desert Hot Springs when a vehicle went in the wrong direction and crashed into another car.
The Riverside County coroner’s office reported the fatality in a deadly car crash on June 28 in Desert Hot Springs.
The police identified the victim as 49-year-old Gildardo Gonzalez Luna of Stokesdale, North Carolina.
According to the report, the incident occurred when a 2013 Ford Fiesta driven by an unidentified 42-year-old man from Victorville headed westbound on North Indian Canyon Drive near Worsley Road, crossed over into the opposite lane, and went the wrong way.
The Ford breached the painted double solid yellow lines, resulting in a head-on crash with a 2007 Honda Civic traveling eastbound on the same road.
Moreover, authorities mentioned that the Ford driver suffered significant injuries and was brought to the Desert Regional Medical Center.
Meanwhile, Luna succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Police now took the Ford driver into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.
CHP urges anyone with information about this Desert Hot Spring Wrong-Way crash to come forward and contact investigating officer Carrillo at 760-770-5300.
