Half Moon Bay, CA (January 16, 2024) – A Half Moon Bay plane crash left a woman fatal after the plane flew erratically before crashing. According to ABC7, police found the woman’s body in the water on Monday afternoon.

Amid a search for victims, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office announced the discovery of a woman’s body in the water near the crash site by a commercial fishing boat.
Then, the woman was moved to the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office. Although her identity is yet to be confirmed, authorities believe she is probably linked to this Half Moon Bay plane crash.
The FAA identified the aircraft involved as a single-engine Cozy Mark IV.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, it had departed from the East Bay and capsized in the water near Ross Cove. However, the exact departure point of the plane remains unknown.
Meanwhile, recovery operations for the wreckage continue, and whether the pilot attempted to land at Half Moon Bay’s Airport remains unanswered.
The alarm was reportedly raised on Sunday evening by an observer who noticed the plane’s erratic flight pattern before losing sight.
