Hesperia, CA (October 26, 2021) – Eun Hee Sims, 62, was killed in a crash with another vehicle on Hesperia Road, near Eucalyptus Street in San Bernardino County.
The collision was reported around 07:05 p.m. San Bernardino County Fire and paramedics responded to the scene shortly thereafter. Sims had been traveling southbound on Hesperia Road in her 2008 Honda CRV, when she was hit head-on by a 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser driven by 62 year old Colton resident Joe Martinez. Martinez swerved into the southbound lane from the northbound lane for unknown reason, causing the crash.
First responders found Sims and they pronounced her dead at the scene. Martinez was trapped in his car following the crash and had to be pulled out using the jaws of life. He suffered unknown injuries and was taken to Desert Valley Hospital then airlifted to a trauma center.
It is suspected that drugs or alcohol are factors in the deadly crash as the driver was seen swerving before the accident.
