91 Freeway Hit-and-Run Crash Left a High School Coach Identified as Christian Dominguez Fatal
Riverside, CA (July 26, 2023) – A Riverside high school coach, identified as Chrtistian Dominguez (21), succumbed to fatal injuries in a 91 Freeway hit-and-run crash. According to The Press-Enterprise, the accident occurred at about 5:25 p.m. on Tuesday.
A 91 Freeway hit-and-run crash left a Riverside high school coach, identified as Christian Dominguez, fatal after being hit by a hit-and-run teen driver.
The California Highway Patrol questioned a man involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash on 91 Freeway that killed a Riverside high school coach.
The Riverside County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 21-year-old Christian Dominguez of Riverside.
Officer Javier Navarro, a CHP spokesman, stated that a 2010 Acura was observed reckless driving as it traveled on a carpool lane when Dominguez, riding a 2020 Kawasaki Ninja, attempted to pass on the right. Suddenly, the Acura made a sharp maneuver to the right, colliding with the motorcycle.
Due to the impact of the crash, the motorcyclist was forcefully thrown off the bike and slid underneath a large commercial vehicle, causing it to run over him.
Moreover, the Acura failed to stop at the scene. However, through diligent efforts, the CHP obtained the license plate number.
An automated license plate reader spotted the suspect’s vehicle at Alessandro and Perris Boulevards in Moreno Valley approximately an hour later. Subsequently, the log indicated that sheriff’s deputies located the Acura at State Street and Crow’s Nest Place near Hemet.
Fortunately, the authorities utilized dashcam video to locate and apprehend the teen driver in Hemet the following day.
While they do not suspect drugs and alcohol played a role in this 91 Freeway hit-and-run crash, the teen may face charges of gross vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run.
Christian Rodriguez served as the assistant water polo coach at Ramona High School in Riverside, and both students and colleagues loved him, considering his death a huge loss to the community.
“Yesenia Dominguez, Christian’s sister, said, ‘He always gave us hope, constantly lifting our spirits and making us feel better.'”
Christian, the second youngest among his five siblings, spent his spare time traveling, enjoying music, and helping others.
Furthermore, supporters created a GoFundMe page to assist Christian’s family with funeral expenses.
