Palo Alto, CA (September 19, 2023) – A Redwood City man succumbed to fatal injuries after a Highway 101 hit-and-run crash in the northbound lanes of the freeway at San Antonio Road. According to Mercury News, the accident occurred around 1:15 a.m. on Sunday.

A Highway 101 hit-and-run crash occurred in Palo Alto, resulting in the death of a 24-year-old Redwood City resident.
Authorities from the California Highway Patrol responded to the collision scene, which involved four vehicles and occurred around 1:15 a.m. in the freeway’s northbound lanes near San Antonio Road.
According to the CHP’s preliminary findings, the Redwood City man traveled northbound in a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro when a 2019 Mazda CX-5 rear-ended his vehicle. The impact of the collision left the Chevrolet disabled in the fast lane.
Additionally, a 2019 Honda Accord driven by an 18-year-old Elk Grove man and a 2019 Nissan Altima driven by a 27-year-old Mountain View man subsequently struck the disabled vehicle.
Unfortunately, the 24-year-old Camaro driver died at the scene. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release his identity once it is confirmed and his next of kin are notified.
Meanwhile, officers found the Mazda at the scene. However, the driver had fled before they arrived.
Moreover, the Honda driver sustained significant injuries, and responders transported them to a hospital for medical attention. On the other hand, a Nissan passenger reported experiencing pain but did not require hospitalization.
As authorities initiated their investigation, authorities temporarily closed northbound Highway 101, causing delays and disruptions.
