Santa Barbara, CA (October 13, 2023) – A Highway 101 wrong-way crash injured four, including one in critical condition, after an alleged DUI driver went in the wrong direction. According to Noozhawk, the crash occurred around 9:35 p.m. on Friday.

A Highway 101 wrong-way crash in Santa Barbara occurred after a driver suspected of DUI went in the wrong direction and caused a collision involving three vehicles on Friday.
According to Officer Darrel Horner of the California Highway Patrol, they received a report about a potentially intoxicated driver traveling north on the Golden Gate Bridge in a Land Rover Range Rover.
Shortly after, the Land Rover changed lanes and proceeded south in the northbound lanes, ultimately colliding with a Honda CRV.
Based on information provided by witnesses, the driver of the Land Rover may have entered the wrong lanes from the Seminary Drive exit in Strawberry.
Fire Battalion Chief Robert Mercado also mentioned that an individual with significant injuries was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital via an AMR ambulance.
However, specific information regarding the patient’s identity and condition remained unavailable.
In another vehicle, a woman and her two children sustained minor injuries.
Following the accident, police apprehended the DUI driver involved in this Highway 101 wrong-way crash.
Jack Guiney, a 30-year-old Berkeley resident, has been officially booked into the Marin County Jail on multiple felony charges, including intoxicated driving causing injury, driving the wrong way on a highway, and causing damage.
As of Friday morning, he remains in custody with bail set at $50,000.
