Bakersfield, CA (January 18, 2024) – A Highway 65 crash left two fatal and another injured after a vehicle and a pickup truck collided head-on. According to KGET, the crash occurred around 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to California Highway Patrol, a vehicle traveling northbound along Highway 65 north of Highway 155 unexpectedly veered into the southbound lane, leading to a catastrophic collision with a pickup truck.
The aftermath left both vehicles resting along the roadside, engulfing the truck in flames.
Two occupants inside the vehicle, identified as a 58-year-old female and a 64-year-old male, were tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, several bystanders managed to pull the truck’s driver to safety before the firefighters arrived.
Kern County fire officials, in a Thursday release, also disclosed that the driver of the pickup truck sustained serious injuries. Despite the severity of the situation, the driver repeatedly expressed gratitude to the intervening bystanders.
Responders then transported the injured man to Kern Medical via a medical helicopter for immediate treatment.
Moreover, CHP stated that at this point in the investigation, alcohol or drugs do not appear to be contributing factors in this Highway 65 crash.
